Raw castings often contain irregularities caused by seams &amp; imperfection in moulds, as well as access ports for pouring material into the moulds. A special purpose trimming machine can be used for removal of fins from castings rather than conventional manual grinding. This requires customized punch and dies according to the workpiece. This paper mainly deals with design of punch and die in a trimming machine for fettling of a differential bearing cap casting. Parameters are selected considering the geometry and material of the fin.\r\n Introduction\r\nA differential is located between the front and rear axles of an automobile. It is responsible for transmitting appropriate amount of power to the drive wheels during cornering. The differential is supported by a bearing system. Differential Bearing Caps serve as an attachment between the bearings, axle housing and the differential. These Differential bearing caps are mass produced by casting process. After the castings have been removed from the mould, the runners, &amp; gates are removed. But even after shot blasting some extended projections or fins are observed on the finished product.\r\n\r\nTrimming is basically a process in which the unwanted, excess or irregular features are removed from a part. Usually trimming is the last operation carried on the part after which a finished part is formed. A trimming machine basically consists of a punch, punch holder, a die, die holder &amp; a hydraulic system to provide the required force to the punch for trimming.\r\nDie is a specialized component of a press, widely used in manufacturing industries to shape or cut the material. A die may be considered analogous to the female part in a complete tool assembly for producing work in a press. The bolster plate is a thick plate mounted on the press bed, which is turn is used to locate and support the die assembly. After the castings, have been removed from the mould, the runners, &amp; gates are removed. But even after shot blasting some unwanted thin fin of about 1.5 to 2.0mm thickness along its perimeter is observed. Natural plant stems\/stalks\/leaves is a waste after the fruit is harvested so its availability is huge. The primitive methods for extraction of natural plant stems\/stalks\/leaves fibers are hand scraping, hand retting. Next machines were developed where the low quality fibres with more damages were produced. Hence fibres were not used in large quantity.\r\n\r\nIn this project work, the potential application of natural plant stems\/stalks\/leaves fibers extractor has been investigated. Natural plant\r\n\u00a0stems\/ stalks\/leaves is used for extraction of fibres. For this purpose, fruit harvested natural plant stems\/stalks\/leaves is taken. Extraction is carried out using the newly developed natural plant fibre extracting machine which was designed and fabricated to ensure the extraction of better quality fibres. The new design and development of such an extractor incorporates thermostat and spring load mechanisms to optimize the required temperature and pressure respectively to enhance fibres properties.\r\n\r\nThe fibres extracted showed moderate to good fibre properties such as strength, fineness, fastness. Fibres may be used for apparel production such as shirts, ladies\/ children dress materials etc. Fibres can also be used for composite application (natural fibre reinforced composites for automobile, building construction, furniture etc).\r\n\r\nFibres are suitable for blending with other fibres such as cotton, polyester, viscose etc. for high quality fancy textile fabrics. The machine developed was ideal for obtaining high quality fibres. Further, it can also be used for extraction of Agave family plants fibres. The machine developed is a low cost and high output machine very much suited for small scale industries.\r\nOBJECTIVES\r\n\r\n \tTo design and develop a suitable machine for extracting fibres from plants.\r\n \tTo extract Natural fibres such as Sisal, Banana and Pineapple from their original plants.\r\n \tTo study the processability of the machine to successfully extract the fibres without damaging their essential properties.\r\n \tTo investigate the structure and properties of extracted fibres.\r\n \tTo analyse the suitability of the extracted fibres for various applications.\r\n\r\nMETHODOLOGY\r\nIt is simple machine consisting of single roller which rolls on fixed support. The roller is provided with horizontal stainless steel blades with blunt edges. Generally, 27 blades are used. 2hp motor is used to provide input power to machine. The machine reduces labor work and\r\nincreases fiber production by 20-25 times as compared to manual process. In this process, natural plant stems\/stalks\/leaves are crushed between two drum rollers. Due to crushing the pulpy part is removed and fiber is obtained. Our next task was to give some framework such that moveable roller can be manually operated. For this purpose spring load mechanism was used.\r\nWorking principle of machine:\r\nFigure\r\n\r\nDesign and Development of Natural Plant Fibre Extracting Machine\r\n\r\nThe raw material i.e. plant stems\/stalks\/leaves are fed to the blade drum by the feeding device. The high-speed spinning blade drum and fixed blades break the raw material and separate the fibers and residue. Suitable settings are maintained in the machine to retain the essential properties of the extracted fibres.\r\nTechnical Specifications of the Machine:\r\n1. Speed of the machine : 720 to 1440 rpm\r\n2. Motor used : 3phase DC Motor &amp; Electric Motor.\r\n3. Provision for application of pressure: Spring loaded system.\r\n4. Extractor drum Roller used : Mild roller with diameter of 140 mm\r\n5. Other Roller used : Mild steel roller with diameter of 40 mm\r\n6. Power supply : 240 volts.\r\n7. Squeeze system : 2 Rollers made of 40 mm diameter.\r\n8. Drive system : belt drive system.\r\n10. Some of these agriculture products are explained below-\r\nFor plantation of sugarcane, the sugarcane seed has to be planted in wet soil. This sugarcane seed is nothing but part of sugarcane. In traditional way farmers use to cut whole sugarcane in 5-6 parts, in such a way that each part having 2-3 seeds. Then those cut parts are planted in soil.Straw is remaining part of Jowar and Maize plant, after removal of corn part. Farmer use to cut this straw and use this cut parts as a food for pet animals like buffalos, ox, cows and goat etc.Groundnut is one of the important agriculture products in India. Farmer use to separate groundnuts from its plants by manually. This require more man power as 20-30 labours per acre, and also this is time consuming operation.Rice is one of the favorite foods of India. Paddy is the initial stage of it. Farmers removing this paddy from paddy plant called as paddy stripping, and this is done by several methods. Most of the time farmers use to remove paddy from its plant by manually.\r\nObjectives:\r\n\r\n \tTo perform more than one operation at a time.\r\n \tIt is suitable for high volume production of agriculture product.\r\n \tTo reduce most of processing time.\r\n \tTo reduce labour cost.\r\n \tTo overcome the problem of labour crises.\r\n\r\nMethodology:\r\nFor the successful completion of our project the following methodology is adopted. The number of components required for the project are fabricated and assembled separately to form a low cost energy efficient multi-purpose robust cutting machine.\r\n\r\nIn this project, the idea is to make mechanization of some agriculture and designed and fabricated a Machine, where it can do the following operations,\r\n\r\nmultipurpose robust cutting machine\r\n\r\nMethodologies used in this machine are explained below.\r\n\r\n1) Sugarcane Seed Cutting-\r\n\r\nThe sugarcane seed cutting machine is mainly based on CAM OPERATION. One shaft placed vertically, the sharp blade is placed at the bottom of this shaftRotator motion of the cam is converted into reciprocating motion of shaft. A pin is placed at the base so that waste of sugarcane and sugarcane with seeds will be separated.\r\n\r\n2) Groundnut Stripper-\r\n\r\nGroundnut stripper consists of rubber blades mounted on the small shaft which will rotated by motor. The power of motor is transmitted to the blades through shaft. The groundnut plant will be feed to blades with the help of slider by manually. Then rotating blades will separate the groundnut from the plant.\r\n\r\n3) Straw Cutter\r\n\r\nStraw cutter consists of three blades which are mounted in circular ring that is connected to motor through belt drive. The power of motor is transmitted to the ring with the help of pulleys and belts. That rotating blades will cut the straw in small pieces.\r\n\r\n4) Paddy Stripper\r\n\r\nPaddy stripper consists of two rims. These rims are mounted on one central shaft, and that shaft will connected to motor through pulleys and belt. The power of motor is transmitted to rims. The rotating rims will separate the paddy from plants.\r\nConclusion:\r\nIn multipurpose robust cutting machine, four individual operations are combined. By using this machine the problem of labour crises can be reduced, because it makes the process faster and labour required for operate the machine is also less.\r\nIt performs more than one operation, so processing time can be saved. In the sugarcane seed cutting operation wastage of sugarcane can be controlled and cut seeds are easy to sowing. In the groundnut stripping operation instead of 10-20 labours per acre only two labours can separate the groundnuts from plant by using this machine. In the paddy stripping operation while separating paddy from plant wastage will be more in traditional methods. By using this machine wastage will be less and instead of 5-6 labours only 2 labours can do the same operations in minimum time.If this machine is used by maximum number of farmers definitely farmer can overcome the labour crises problem, which reduces the labours cost and process become faster and easy.\r\nFuture scope:\r\nThe future scope for this machine is very wide. In market separate machines are available for individual operation and also these machines are costlier. Some more number of operations can be combined. And some of the operations can be done by manually handling. If wheels are provided to machine then it can moved from one place to another place. The seed feed rate is more but the time required for the total operation is more and the total cost is increased due to labour, hiring of equipment. The conventional seed sowing machine are less efficient, time consuming. Today\u2019s era is marching towards the rapid growth of all sectors including the agricultural sector. To meet the future demands, we have to implement the new techniques will increase the overall production. As day by day the labour availability becomes the great concern for the farmers and labour cost is more, this machine reduces the efforts and total cost of sowing the seeds and fertilizer placement. Theoretical studies regarding pneumatic equipment for sowing small seeds in cups, highlighting the advantages of this type of equipment with superior parameters obtained from the considered crops. Equipment can be used in narrower spaces, being easily to handle and use, of driving the vacuum generator can be done electrically. By using this equipment, the productivity will increase, the space of establishing the seedlings will reduce, and the seeds norm will diminish. The germinating, rising and development space of plants is assured, equipment can be automated and built by minimum costs.\r\nINTRODUCTION\r\nAfter the advent of green revolution, more emphasis is laid on the quality of the agricultural product along with the quantity of production to meet the ever-growing food and nutritional requirements. Both these demands can be met when the environment for the plant growth is suitably controlled. The need to protect the crops against un-favourable environmental conditions led to the development of protected agriculture. Greenhouse is the most practical method of achieving the objectives of protected agriculture, where natural environment is modified by using sound engineering principles to achieve optimum plant growth and yield. Our country is self dependent on food grain production but to fulfil the nutritional security, the gap between increasing demand of horticultural produce has to be filled. This gap cannot be filled by the traditional horticulture which required large area under horticulture to increase the production for the ever growing population. Green house technology has potential to produce more produce per unit area with increased input use efficiency.\r\n\r\nThough India have 2nd largest man-power in the world, it is very difficult to find the workers for planting seeds in nursery as well as in Farm. Also there is loss of seed while sowing it in seed planting tray; it leads to loss of self property and ultimately loss for nursery as well as for farmers. The existing sowing machine is too costly. It is not abundantly available in India. It has a complex design.\r\n\r\nIn India traditional farming is prevalent but now new farming technology like poly house farming provides better income in a short period of time with fewer labours. Polyhouse farming is an alternative new technique in agriculture gaining foothold in rural India. It reduces dependency on rainfall &amp; makes the optimum use of land and water, seed resources. Polyhouse farming can help the farmer generate income around the year growing multiple crops with an efficient machine called \u201cSEED SOWING MACHINE\u201d\r\nMain Objective of new technology:\r\n1. Arrangement for depth control.\r\n2. Uniformity in the distribution of seed placement.\r\n3. Proper utilization of SEEDS.\r\n4. Time Reduction in Planting.\r\n5. Per HECTOR Production increase.\r\n6. Placement of seeds at proper depth.\r\n7. Reduction in Man-Power.\r\nWorking of Pneumatic Circuit:\r\nCompressed air from Air Compressor is supplied to the vacuum pump through solenoid valve. Solenoid valve is operated (ON-OFF) by Arduino Software. Nozzle is connected to the vacuum pump. Compressed air is supplied to the vacuum pump and vacuum is generated at the tip of nozzle. Due to vacuum generation, Seed get sucked at the tip of the nozzle as nozzle inlet diameter is smaller than diameter of the seed. As the solenoid valve is ON vacuum generation keeps on. After the rotation of stepper motor vacuum pump also gets rotate and after certain rotation of vacuum pump with the help of electronic circuit solenoid valve gets OFF. So the seed will fall into the cup of seedling tray. This cycle will continue further.\r\n\r\nAutomatic Seed Sowing Machine\r\nMANUFACTURING AND ASSEMBLY\r\nThe design of structure and hardware was an organic process throughout the planning and fabrication stages. The initial designs were primarily based on the basic specifications that had been decided on early in the year. The hardware and structural designs evolved to better satisfy these specifications.\r\nThe main steps during manufacturing were:\r\n1. Frame Manufacturing\r\n2. Pulley Manufacturing\r\n3.
